Raccoon.sb.fsu.edu (128.186.103.108) is a single 930 MHz Intel P III (Coppermine) processor computer that is used both for data processing and archiving (back-up) of data collected at home and retrieval of data collected at synchrotrons. It has the following specification:
  • Current operating system : Red Hat Linux release version 7.1 (Seawolf) and kernel version 2.4.20-20.7
  • Originial operating system: Red Hat Linux release version 7.1 (Seawolf) and kernel version 2.4.2-2
  • 384 MB physical memory
  • 1.5 GB swap partition
  • One 20 GB Maxtor IDE hard disk
  • Two 34 GB (IBM & Seagate) SCSI hard disks
  • One internal Pioneer IDE DVD-ROM drive
  • One external HP SCSI CD-R/-RW drive
  • One external Seagate SCSI DDS-3 tape drive
  • One external Maxtor FireWire hard drive
  • A Belkin Combo USB 2.0 and FireWire card, and
  • One portable Sony DRX-510UL multi-format dual-interface external DVD Writer/Reader

Data collected at the Facility and synchrotron are routinely archived in DDS-3 and/or DDS-4 tape media. Please note that the archives are for the sole use of the members of the Structural Biology Program at Florida State University and unauthorized use is prohibited.
