Neptune.sb.fsu.edu (128.186.103.106) is a single 933 MHz Intel P III (Coppermine) processor computer that is used both for the archiving (back-up) of data collected at home and retrieval of data collected at synchrotrons. It has the following specifications:
  • Current operating system: Red Hat Linux release version 7.3 (Valhalla) and kernel version 2.4.20-20.7
  • Original operating system: Red Hat Linux release version 7.3 (Valhalla) and kernel version 2.4.18-3
  • 384 MB physical memory
  • 1.8 GB swap partition
  • One 20 GB Maxtor IDE hard disk
  • One 34 GB Seagate SCSI hard disk
  • One internal Lite-On IDE CD-ROM drive
  • One internal Seagate SCSI DDS-4 tape drive
  • One 80 GB Maxtor FireWire external hard drive
  • One Pioneer FireWire DVD-R/-RW drive
  • A Belkin Combo USB 2.0 and FireWire (aka: i-Link, IEEE1394) card, and
  • A portable Sony DRX-510UL multi-format dual interface external DVD Writer/Reader

Data collected at the Facility and synchrotron are routinely archived in DDS-3 and/or DDS-4 tape media. Please note that the archives are for the sole use of the members of the Structural Biology Program at Florida State University and unauthorized use is prohibited.
