![]() For archiving (back-up) data at home and retieving pre-archived data from synchrotrons, the XRF has added two Pioneer DVD-R\-RW drives [one in neptune.sb.fsu.edu (Linux) and one in anaconda.sb.fsu.edu (Windows NT)]. These drives are capable of reading and writing all the following media: DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, and CD-RW (writing), DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW (reading). For compatability reasons, XRF recommends the use of General-purpose (as opposed to Authoring) 4.7 GB DVD-R and DVD-RW media from Pioneer Electronics for all archiving purposes both at home and while at synchrotrons. These media have the following Pioneer numbers DVS-RW47B/U (DVD-RW) and DVS-R47A/U (DVD-R). Notice: DVD+R, DVD+RW, ( note the "+" sign as opposed to "-" sign) and DVD-RAM are NOT compatible with the drive. Some features of the DVD Writer are: |
