The influence of the flowing gases on the amplitude of gas-microphone detected photoacoutic signal from solids in an open photoacoustic cell is of interest not only because of its importance in the in situ study of catalysts during reaction conditions, but also because it serves as a test for the theory for the photoacoustic effect. Such experiments are different from those reported earlier where the signal is generated by the gas molecules themselves.
