BCH 5475: Chemical and Physical Characterization of Biopolymers |

This is a one-semester course in physical biochemistry required of all biochemistry and molecular biophysics graduate students. Topics covered include solution thermodynamics, hydrodynamic properties of macromolecules, transport phenomena, equilibrium binding, chromatography, and various forms of spectroscopy used for macromolecular characterization, including UV/vis, CD, fluorescence, IR, Raman, NMR, and mass spectrometry. |

BCH 5886: Biomolecular NMR Spectroscopy |

This is a one-semester graduate level course in the principles and applications of modern NMR spectrscopy. The course is targeted for graduate students in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biophysics, biology, and engineering. Topics covered include a detailed look at 1D and 2D NMR, including NOE and ROE, spectral editing and filtering, assignment strategies for organic and biological molecules. We also study multidimensional NMR methods, including assignment strategies, restraint measurements, and computational strategies used in biological macromolecular structure determination. |
