November 2008Dr. Rafael Bruschweiler elected fellow of APS 12/10/08:Professor Rafael Bruschweiler of Chemistry and Biochemistry and member of IMB has been elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society, Division of Biological Physics. September 2008Dr. Brian Miller's paper has been accepted as Rapid Publications in Biochemistry 09/15/08:Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry Dr. Brian Miller's paper has been accepted as Rapid Publications in Biochemistry indicating the paper's novelty and broadest appeal to the scientific community. Dr. Wei Yang's work finds a molecular clue to evolution 09/10/08:Dr. Wei Yang, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and member of Institute of Molecular Biophysics Program has published paper with colleagues from Duke and Brandeis that finds a molecular clue to evolution. Dr. Michael Roper receives NIH grant 06/04/08: Dr. Michael Roper, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry has received a NIH grant to study obesity-diabetes link. Congrats to Dr. Roper! May 2008Dr. Scott Stagg receives AHA grant 06/03/08: Dr. Scott Stagg, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry has received a AHA grant to study COPII coat transport. Congrats to Dr. Stagg! Bo Liang and Jing Zhou receive AHA pre-doctoral fellowship 05/29/08: Bo Liang and Jing Zhou, graduate students in Dr. Hong Li's lab have received pre-doctoral AHA fellowships. February 2008Dr. Hong-Guo Yu has won Basil O'Connor Starter Scholar Research Award 02/28/2008: Dr. Hong-Guo Yu, Assistant Professor of Biological Science and member of Molecular Biophysics graduate program has been awarded a two-year Basil O'Connor Starter Scholar Research Award. The $150,000 grant from March of Dimes will allow his lab to focus on elucidating the molecular mechanism of recombination and chromosome segregation during meiosis. Congrats to Dr. Yu! Dr. Yanchang Wang has won 4-year American Cancer Society Grant 02/26/2008: Dr. Yanchang Wang, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences and member of Molecular Biophysics graduate program has been awarded a four-year $707,000 grant from the American Cancer Society. The grant will allow his lab to learn how enzyme Cdc14 is involved in the cell deactivation process. Congrats to Dr. Wang! Dr.
