12/10/08:Professor Rafael Bruschweiler of Chemistry and Biochemistry and member of IMB has been elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society, Division of Biological Physics.

Dr. Wei Yang's work finds a molecular clue to evolution

09/10/08:Dr. Wei Yang, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and member of Institute of Molecular Biophysics Program has published paper with colleagues from Duke and Brandeis that finds a molecular clue to evolution.

Department e-mail host moves

06/12/08: In order to better serve the residents of IMB, e-mail hosting service is being moved from a local server to University's Java E-mail Server with Enterprise virus scanning and storage. For more details, check the e-mail sent early this week or check it at Imbpeople list.

Dr. Hong-Guo Yu has won Basil O'Connor Starter Scholar Research Award

02/28/2008: Dr. Hong-Guo Yu, Assistant Professor of Biological Science and member of Molecular Biophysics graduate program has been awarded a two-year Basil O'Connor Starter Scholar Research Award. The $150,000 grant from March of Dimes will allow his lab to focus on elucidating the molecular mechanism of recombination and chromosome segregation during meiosis. Congrats to Dr. Yu!

Dr. Yanchang Wang has won 4-year American Cancer Society Grant

02/26/2008: Dr. Yanchang Wang, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences and member of Molecular Biophysics graduate program has been awarded a four-year $707,000 grant from the American Cancer Society. The grant will allow his lab to learn how enzyme Cdc14 is involved in the cell deactivation process. Congrats to Dr. Wang!

Dr. Linda Hirst has won NSF Career Award

2008 NSF Career Award has been awarded to Dr. Linda Hirst, Assistant Professor of Physics and member of Molecular Biophysics graduate program.

Mag Lab -Open House
National High-Field Magnet Lab will hold it's annual Open House on Saturday, February 23 between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The event is free and open to public.

Call for Papers for Annual Kasha Award
Nominations are sought for the 13th Annual Kasha Award from MOB students who are primary authors on a paper in the past two calendar years.

Dr. Tim Cross receives $2 Million grant
Dr. Timothy A. Cross, the Earl Frieden Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry has been awarded $2 Million National Institutes of Health grant. The grant will make it possible for Dr. Cross and his team to work toward mapping of the proteins at the surface of the bacteria.
