04/08/08: Dr. Alla Korepanova, Abbott Labs, Chicago is the 2008 Kasha Seminar Speaker and Bo Liang & Cheri Hampton are the 2008 Kasha Award Recipients. Congrats to all!

Dr. Alan G. Marsahll will receive 2008 Ralph and Helen Oesper Award

03/18/08: Dr. Alan G. Marshall has been selected to receive the 2008 Ralph and Helen Oesper Award from the Cincinnati section of the American Chemical society for his co-invention of FTICR and leading technique development. Congrats to Dr. Marshall!

Dylan Murray wins 2008-09 Presidential/University fellowship

Dr. Hong-Guo Yu has won Basil O'Connor Starter Scholar Research Award

02/28/2008: Dr. Hong-Guo Yu, Assistant Professor of Biological Science and member of Molecular Biophysics graduate program has been awarded a two-year Basil O'Connor Starter Scholar Research Award. The $150,000 grant from March of Dimes will allow his lab to focus on elucidating the molecular mechanism of recombination and chromosome segregation during meiosis. Congrats to Dr. Yu!

Dr. Yanchang Wang has won 4-year American Cancer Society Grant

02/26/2008: Dr. Yanchang Wang, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences and member of Molecular Biophysics graduate program has been awarded a four-year $707,000 grant from the American Cancer Society. The grant will allow his lab to learn how enzyme Cdc14 is involved in the cell deactivation process. Congrats to Dr. Wang!

Dr. Linda Hirst has won NSF Career Award

2008 NSF Career Award has been awarded to Dr. Linda Hirst, Assistant Professor of Physics and member of Molecular Biophysics graduate program.

Mag Lab -Open House
National High-Field Magnet Lab will hold it's annual Open House on Saturday, February 23 between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The event is free and open to public.

January 2008

Call for Papers for Annual Kasha Award
Nominations are sought for the 13th Annual Kasha Award from MOB students who are primary authors on a paper in the past two calendar years.

Dr. Tim Cross receives $2 Million grant
Dr. Timothy A. Cross, the Earl Frieden Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry has been awarded $2 Million National Institutes of Health grant. The grant will make it possible for Dr. Cross and his team to work toward mapping of the proteins at the surface of the bacteria.

FSU's International Center will hold a reception for International Scholars and Students on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 3:30 PM in Student Services Building 208. Please join them in honor of the contributions of international scholars and students.

City of Tallahassee's International Reception
The City of Tallahassee will host the eighth annual Charles Billings International Students' Reception on Thursday evening, Nov. 8, from 6 to 8 PM at the Mary Brogan Museum of Art & Science, 350 South Duval Street.

Cake for Nilakshee Bhattacharya
Nilkashee Bhattacharya, graduate student in Dr. Timothy Logan successfully defended her Ph.D dissertation today. To celebrate there will be cake for everyone in Logan lab at 3 PM (Tuesday, October 23, 2007). Congrats to Dr N. Bhattacharya!
