Physical Biochem Facility
The FacilityThe Physical Biochemistry Facility (PBF) provides state-of-the-art resources for biophysical studies of macromolecules. The facility was established as a collaborative effort of Drs. Michael Blaber, Donald Caspar, and Timothy Logan, the Institute of Molecular Biophysics, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Department of Biological Sciences at the Florida State University. The peopleIn conjunction with the Macromolecular X-ray Facility and the NMR facilities at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, the PBF provides researchers at FSU with means to study the biophysical properties of biomolecules. In addition to the instrumental resources, the facility provides consultation, training by the Director Dr. C Mundoma and assistance with instrument operation, experimental design and data analysis to the scientific community of the Florida State University and Florida A&M University. ResourcesSpecial emphasis is placed on providing resources, training, and guidance to graduate and undergraduate students. The PBF offers access to a broad range of instrumentation that is usually not available in an individual laboratory. Consequently, students have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with different biophysical techniques and evaluate their suitability to a particular study. The PBF also provides a forum for communication and exchange of ideas among students in their research efforts.
